Joint venture with Allen Associates in the design of a Coffey Still. Berg Design bringing their expertise in engineering design and manufacture, Allen Associates bringing their expertise in Chemical and Process Engineering from within the Whisky Distilling Industry
This Still is Based on the original patent by the Irishman Aeneas Coffey from 1830. This is a continuous distillation process and allows for the production of alcoholic spirit with an ethanol content of up to 95%
The Still has two columns : The first column (called the analyzer) in a column still has steam rising and wash descending through several levels.T he second column (called the rectifier) carries the alcohol from the wash, where it circulates until it can condense at the required strength.
Column stills are frequently used in the production of grain whisky and are the most commonly used type of still in the production of bourbon and other American whiskeys.
In response to an industry wide issue relating to evaporative ethanol loss, Berg Design and Allen Associates put their creative skills to the test to design, develop and build a unique solution to the problem.
This product is a condenser which can be fitted onto the vent line of stills, washbacks and tanks alike and condenses escaping ethanol vapour for return to the vessel as condensate.
